Youanmi was a goldfield's town that grew from nothing in the desert, flowered briefly and died.

This book tells the history of the town, its mines and its people.

The author is a grand-niece of Alfred Evans, one of the original leaseholders on the Youanmi field. Both sides of her family are from a goldfields' background.

She was born in Perth in 1922, attended Perth Modern School from 1935 to 1939 and graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1942. She has previously published short stories and textbooks and now lives in Sydney.
