Field Manual for Search and Rescue Crews

Volume III of the International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (IAMSAR) Manual, jointly issued by the IMO and ICAO, is written to be carried aboard ships, aircraft and rescue units and used directly during a search and rescue operation. This 2025 edition sets out procedures for on scene coordination, search planning and rescue techniques in a compact, mission ready format.

It complements the Manual's other volumes, which cover the organisation and management of SAR systems, and is intended for crews and coordinators who need clear guidance in the field rather than background policy.
