First published in 1994 and updated in 2013, this invaluable book provides sailors with far more than guides on where to anchor .

Extensive sailing, cruising and racing experience has enabled author Bill Burbidge to identify many issues of concern to those cruising the WA coast and Indonesia and to provide helpful and practical advice.

The 88 page volume provides a wide variety of information including translations of common words on Indonesian charts, hints on clearing harbour, changing money and advice on the purity of drinking water. Anchors and anchoring are covered extensively and include notes on types of anchors, approaching an anchorage and securing a position.

There are comprehensive details on specific anchorages from Lombok to Timor and the Tanimbars, including their lat. and long., suitability, what is available and facilities ashore.

Part 2 The Australian Coast from Darwin to Fremantle is dealt with in a similar manner and includes marina and marina facilities, handy information on yacht services, lifting and engineering contacts and chandleries.

Those cruising the Kimberley will appreciate the comprehensive advice on specific anchorages provided in the same detail as those for Indonesia, with references to major ports such as Broome, Dampier, Exmouth, Carnarvon, Fremantle expanded to include items such as when you need a taxi to get to town and where the shops are located.

Bill Burbidge's passion for safety at sea is evident in entries interspersed throughout the book,
