The HX-1: Hema's next generation navigator now available for pre-order

Hema have just announced the follow up to their hugely successful HN7 Navigator! Meet the brand new, Wi-Fi connected, multi-touch, 7-inch-screened Hema HX-1 Navigator. This sleek new model looks to be better in just about every respect, with updated turn-by-turn navigation, Hema's award-winning off-road maps, over 45,000 POI and 1.2 million kilometres of 4WD and outback roads. The new Wi-Fi connectivity means you can download tracks from other explorers and share your own, and also spells an end to the current largely unpleasant update process. You don't need a computer to update anymore, it can all be done right from your device with the tap of a few buttons! Finally! It also seems they've put a decent 5000 mAh battery inside, claiming over 6 hours battery. This is a rather dramatic improvement over the HN7's 1 hour and 20 minutes. Other basic specs include:
  • 7” 1024x600 glass screen with multi-touch panel
  • 16GB internal memory, up to 32GB Micro SD card slot (card not included)
  • 5MP camera
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • 22 channel GPS
  • 5000 mAh Li-poly battery – more than 6 hours battery life
In the box you'll get all the usual suspects - a cradle, windscreen mount, 12V/24V car charger and a mini-usb cable - everything you'll need to get going. This time round the Navigator is also equipped with a 5-megapixel for taking geotagged photos. It'll also record videos up to 480p at 15 frames per second. And saving the best for last - no price rise! The HX1 will retail for $699, same as the HN7. If all that goodness is madly tooting your horn, you can pre-order your HX-1 here for November 1st shipping. If you prefer to see what other people think first, stay tuned - as soon as we get our hands on one, we'll be taking it on the road and putting together an in-depth review.
